I finally got to welcome my favorite local hairstylist into my photography studio this month! Kaylee is my trusted hair professional at Lords and Ladies Douglassville. I can’t say enough good things about her! She can master a classic cut, give you that color refresh you need, and bring your curls back to life. I’ve already recommended her to all my friends and family- I just can’t get enough of Kaylee. She is my go-to girl for any of my clients who need a session day style.
We got together this month to enhance her brand with photos that represent her professionalism and her fun personality. I decided on a neutral backdrop shade to put emphasis on her curly hair. After all, hair is the focal point! Kaylee brought along her entire bag of hair tools for this studio session. I picked a few that I felt we could pose with the easiest. We used a pair or scissors, a comb, round brush, a curling iron, and a blow dryer.
I focused on a few necessary shots. She needed a few basic headshots for her Tippy profile- if you’ve been to Lords and Ladies, you know what I mean. These photos were minimal on poses and props. We photographed a few in her blank tank-top and some more with her denim jacket overtop. I loved the way the deep blue denim jacket brought out her bright blue eyes. This was the pairing we decided to keep. The texture in the denim really added a rocker-chick vibe to the photos that I adored!
My goal for this branding session was to give Kaylee photos she can use to update her profile photos and utilize as social media content. To do this, I needed varying angles and unique poses to keep her page interesting. I included a few close-up detail photos of her tools for any educational content. My favorite poses are of her holding the scissors!
Kaylee’s brand is heavily about curly hair- it’s her specialty. She’s had a long hair journey to bringing her natural curls back to life. I wanted to highlight that in this gallery. This was the perfect opportunity to add some movement into her photos. I prompted Kaylee to shake her hair around and scrunch up her curls. I love the free feeling of these shots and I feel like they really represent the kind of stylist she is.
Lastly, we had to add in the LL uniform. Kaylee popped in a few of her go-to tools into the pockets of her smock. While still professional, we gave into the more playful and smiley emotions for this set. I wanted a very in-action shot with a handful of tool. These last portraits in the gallery ended up being Kaylee’s pick for her new profile photo!
