Ott’s Exotic Plants in Schwenksville

It’s been soooo long since I’ve been here. It’s an old favorite that I’ve been meaning to come back to. Emma wanted to find any way to include florals in her senior portraits. Staying local, I suggested a greenhouse for some nice shade and a variety of backdrops. Ott’s is known for their arboretum-like greenhouse with a waterfall and tons of unique plants. This gave us a tropical, yet floral location that perfectly fit Emma’s vision.

What I absolutely love about greenhouses is the option for an indoor location as well as the consistency in backgrounds. Being a semi indoor/outdoor location, we have the combination of gorgeous natural lighting in a place that isn’t weather dependent. No matter if it’s raining or cold outside, we’ll always have a place to photograph. Indoor locations also give us more flexibility with scheduling. We can photograph anytime in the afternoon without any worries about harsh sunlight. The greenhouse makes the perfect shade. Another plus is that greenhouses are pretty connsistent with the plants they offer so often backgrounds don’t change. We know exactly what to expect when it comes to scenery.

• Always include a casual outfit (Something that reflects your everyday style)

Everything about Emma’s first look fits this location’s natural-feel and plants vibes down to the Birkenstock sandals and the denim skirt. The ruffles and lace on her top add just enough texture to keep the visual interest going. This look is also soooo consistent with Emma’s typical style. It’s an outfit that truly feels like her — that’s exactly what we’re looking for!
