This session is the definition of a perfect family photo gallery. It’s all down to the details: the colors, the outfits, the location. It’s so important to plan for your photo sessions intentionally. After all, these photos will soon become your decor at home. You can acheive a picture-perfect photo gallery too. How did we do it?

First, let’s talk location. We settled on a simple location with lots of greenery and open space. These were taken at the beginning of May when trees were full of leaves and grass grew tall. The sun peaks just behind the trees giving the scenery a gorgeous, golden glow. This spot feels like a magical meadow! I love how the overgrown grass reaches just above their shoes.

This fun-loving fam nailed their outfits with gorgeous shades of olive green. Their color palette consisted of olive greens, navy blues, and white. The natural feel to these colors coordinate so well with the background we chose. This family found their color palette in my favorite way. Mom started by finding a fun patterned dress. Then, chose her family’s pieces based on the colors on it. My best advice when it comes to choosing an outfit for your photo session is to wear a flowy dress. While beautiful and flattering, these piece offers so many more options for posing. We included a classic twirl pose to show off the dress.

Posing plays such an important role in your photo session. My goal is always to bring out genuine smiles, capture real connections, and create photos that feel like you. We’ll always make sure to capture those ‘must have’ smile photos with a mix of more candid-style photos. I love incorporating movement-based prompts. With kids, it’s so important to make the experience full of giggles and play time. I prompted a family tickle fight and the ‘teapot pose’. I love how these photos feel so true to this family and their personality.
