The spring senior season is so incredibly close! I can’t wait for cherry blossoms and pretty dresses to be in front of my camera lens soon. I know finding the right outfits, especially dresses for your senior session can be difficult. Trust me, I feel the struggle. Luckily, I am a lover of online shopping and found some cute fits at great prices to share!
First things first, when it comes to senior portraits, you want variety in your outfits. We’re looking for a casual look that fits your everyday style and a dress or dressier option to level things up. I ALWAYS recommend a long flowy dress option for senior portraits. While gorg, maxi dresses give you so many options for posing and gives that candid, caught-in-the-moment feel. I love a good twirl or running shot for seniors paired with a long dress. (Just something to consider!)
I did some browsing on Aeropostale because they seriously leveled up in the past year or so. (+ prices are inexpensive for those of us on a budget) They have a good color scheme going so it shouldn’t be hard to find looks that work together seamlessly.
Let’s start with the maxi dresses!
My first pick is a pink dress with a dainty floral pattern. This dress has a univerally flattering scoop neckline that’s still fairly modest for high school seniors. The skirt has a few tiers so there is definitely room for movement in the skirt. This dress would look perfect under the cherry blossoms this April!
My personal favorite long dress is a butter yellow dress with a sweetheart neckline. It has thicker straps so I’d imagine you could wear this with a regular bra and not have any straps showing. (+ straps are adjustable!) This dress would look beautiful for a senior session in an open field at golden hour, no doubt! I’m considering buying this one for myself. There is also a mauve pink option that would be another great pick if you’re scheduling around the cherry blossoms.
My last maxi dress option is a floral, smocked dress with detachable straps. This is a classic silhoutte that will grow with you. (I can see this lasting in your closet throughout college!) I can imagine this dress in the blue shade looking great at any garden location. There’s also a cream color option that I would wear in a field or by the creek.
If you want to go the skirt route, there is a very cottage-core inspired white, lace maxi on their site. It has a tie waistband which offers variety for rise whether you prefer a high or low rise bottom. This is a classic spring/summer clothing piece that you could pair with a top that has a pop of color. I could see this skirt looking great in any backdrop you choose for your senior photos!
Next, mini dresses!
There are SO many options here. This is definitely what most seniors gravitate towards first. There’s just something about a mini dress that makes you feel so confident! However, I really recommend trying out or at least bringing along a longer, flowy-er dress option for your senior portraits. Even if they aren’t your norm, they photograph beautifully. You won’t regret it!
I want to start off by sharing all the blue dresses. This is a popular color this season, for sure! I love a good baby blue on camera. The first one to catch my eye is this adorable eyelet dropwaist mini dress. The unique neckline and trendy bubble skirt makes this really fun. This would be a great one to wear at any location. I want to note that I can see it being not too flattering for movement poses so I would definitely pack a second dress for this reason.
Another fav is this blue floral fit-and-flare. I love the way this dress moves and the neckline is so flattering. I can see this being one that you can wear a normal bra underneath. Following the blue floral theme is this white and blue Bridgerton-esce corset dress. This feels so romantic and would be a gorgeous option for a garden location with elegant vibes. Shifting away from the florals, this navy blue babydoll dress is a classic. This does have a deeper neckline, which you’ll want to look out for. However, I can see this dress being worn at any photo location you might choose.
Moving on to other colors, I would love to see this baby pink eyelet romper in front of my camera this spring. It’s the perfect shade of pink to pop against all the flowers. This dress also has a shape that would flatter every body type beautifully.
My favorite color scheme in the spring collection is this red floral babydoll dress. It’s a real pop of color that would work with any location. If you like the romantic feel of that blue Bridgerton-esce, blue dress, you’ll love this corset mini dress in cream with red florals or blue with navy florals. The adjustable and removeable straps are a bonus!
This next option reminds me of the butter yellow maxi that I’m very much considering adding to my cart! It’s a textured, yellow mini dress with a sweetheart neckline. It fits the spring vibe so well that you could pair this with any location choice. My last pick for seniors who love the mini dress style is this sage green fit and flare. This is one of those dresses that I would wear while running in a field at golden hour. (+ it has pockets!!)
Wrapping it up!
I hope this was able to help you find the perfect dress for your senior portrait session this spring! I know expenses this year can add up. You don’t have to spend $70+ on a dress for senior photos if you don’t have the budget. It’s so much more important to invest in photos that are documenting this huge milestone.
If you’re a 2025 senior, you are not too late to get your senior photos in. However, now is the time to get your session on the calendar! April and May dates fill up quick. Find more information on my senior photo experience here!
