This July maternity photo session in Berks county was absolutely golden! I am so happy I found this full and quiet sunflower field fairly local for my Douglassville couple. We caught these flowers in their peak of bloom. It could not have been more perfect!
Marie and Mitchell arrived in this heat wave with the perfect outfits. These two definitely followed my Style Guide! Marie chose a simple, flowy blue dress. It was the perfect light and comfortable fabric for her maternity photos. I was so in love with her dress that I had to ask where she got it. To my surprise, this was an amazon find! If you’re looking the perfect maternity dress for your session, be sure to check it out. It comes in so many different colors- great for any season.
These two brought in a few props to add something unique to their maternity photos. I made sure to ask them to bring along an ultra sound to photograph- they brought about 10! An ultrasound is such a cute way to include your baby into your session. After all, it is their first photo shoot! I love to ask my couples to hold it out for their classic smile pose. It really shows their excitement for this parenthood journey. I also like to include it into our close up detail photos of the belly. The second prop they decided to bring was a cute little pair of baby slippers. They had little bears on them! These are such a cute touch to include something your baby will be wearing in just a few months.
To begin our session, I brought these two right into the sunflowers. I chose a few slightly different poses all while holding the belly. I am always super aware of making sure the bump is accentuated in each shot. Hand placements truly matter! We tried a few snuggly poses. Some with nose-boops, a few cheesy smiles, some serious looks at baby, and a ‘spooning’ pose. I really like to keep maternity poses simple and natural. It’s so important to keep mom comfortable!
Lastly, we switched up for a few solos of mom. Marie told me that she is “so awkward” and isn’t thee best at posing. I completely understood her feeling- I get that way in front of the camera too. I wanted to reassure her by guiding her poses. I made the intention to show her the back of my camera as a little sneak peek and a boost of confidence. As soon as she saw herself from my lens, she was in shock. She had no idea how beautiful she truly is. My main goal as a photographer is to not only document these milestones for people, but also make them feel their absolute best!
If you’re a soon to be mom in the Berks county area looking for a timeless and cheery photographer to capture this milestone of motherhood, I’d love to be your girl!
