Getting to see families year after year to capture milestones is the most special part of my job. The Schauls met with me this April to celebrate and announce that their family is growing! Pregnancy announcements have become just as big as your maternity session. It’s so special getting to share this news with friends and family and I believe we should be documenting it!

We photographed a short session at the Reading Museum under the cherry blossoms. Sarah chose the most perfect blush pink, floral gown from Baltic Born. This was the staple piece for the whole family’s outfits. Her husband and son carried that mauve pink throughout their clothing. The spring tones were perfect! It’s so important to pair your outfits to your location. This makes a seamless and visually appealing gallery.

If we’re photographing a pregnancy announcement, we’re going to need a prop or two to get the excitement across. I recommend bringing along an ultrasound if you have one. This was a great match to Sarah’s already showing baby bump! If you’re not that far along yet, save it for your maternity photos. We wanted to include some type of sign to share the message that the Schaul’s are expecting baby number 2. Luckily, I have the perfect letter board we could customize. Pick up my fav from Target! The natural wood really made for a timeless sign. It was so cohesive with the background.

It can be tough photographing a maternity or pregnancy announcement session when you already have a little one. When bringing another child to your maternity session, I like to take my time and encourage little games and laughter. Wyatt here was ecstatic to meet his baby brother. We really leaned into that and asked him to talk to his baby brother and give his mom’s belly kisses. Throughout the session, we allowed Wyatt and his dad to play around. Wyatt hopped onto his dad’s shoulders and got a closer look at the cherry blossoms. This was such a good way to keep the excitement up.
