This Spring season at the Reading Public Museum was as magical as ever! When Diana inquired about her Fall wedding at Stokesay castle back in January, I recommended a spring engagement. Doing your engagement photos in the opposing season gives you time to print save the dates and is a great way to kick off the wedding anticipation. I love choosing an engagement location that holds sentimental value to you. Since these two are West Reading locals, I knew the museum would be a top choice. It’s one of their go-to spots in Wyomissing for afternoon walks. My biggest selling point for this location is the Cherry blossoms in the Spring. These paired with their flower beds and architecture is a recipe for a perfect photo session.
Cherry blossoms bloom for such a short amount of time since they aren’t native to the area. We only have about a 2 week window in the spring to capture their beauty on camera. In my experience, the cherry blossoms at the Reading Public Museum hit their peak somewhere around the 20th of April each year. If you’re set on incorporating these pink florals in your photo session, anticipate blooms during the second half of April. We’ll usually lose petals as May begins.
We had the chance to play around with so many different backdrops at the Reading Museum. I just love this place in the height of spring! We began our session exploring the architecture around the museum grounds. Then we followed the pathway under the willow tree. This weeping willow is such an elegant backdrop in the warmer months. Afterwards, we stepped onto the stone staircase for some of my favorite shots. These stairs are such a unique element to add to a portrait and add interest against nature.
Another spring bloom at the Reading Museum is the garden of bluebells. The sun sets beautifully behind them creating a magical glow. It feels like a fairy garden in Berks County here! We also made sure to step into the creek that runs through the museum. There was so much greenery over here. I loved the way the water reflected the trees and the glow of the sun.
If you’re looking for a spring photo session in a beautiful garden, this is the place to go!
