The holidays are officially here! I just adore sessions this time of year. This is my 3rd annual season photographing at Starlyte Christmas Tree Farm in Douglassville, PA. I wanted to share this quirky and cute family session from the farm this year. The adorable Sheptock family arrived in perfect ugly sweater attire. I knew from the start, I’d get a chance to be a little more creative. This was a great opportunity to experiment with different backdrops at the farm. (I may be including some of these next year!)

We began our session among the classic trees. I set the group between the rows of trees with the golden sun behind them. I simply adore how the sunlight brought out the bright colors in their sweaters!

After a few essential family photos, we added in a toboggan sled. Let me just say- Starlyte Farm has the best prop collection! The kids sat down on the sled first and decided to recreate the Home Alone movie poster with the “OMG” pose. I thought this was SO funny. These kids were blast to hang out with. One after another, mom and dad decided to pile in for a cute photo-op.

Next, we shifted over to a more simple backdrop. I seated this family on a rock overlooking the pond and the golden sunset. While this is a beautiful location, it really allowed for the sweaters to pop and be the center focus.

Finally, we tried something that I haven’t done before. The Sheptock family suggested a photo in the tree barn. While this was a new spot for me, I had to give it a shot. I love the neon lights in the background and the cozy barn look. We also tried something different for the parents’ couples photo. I positioned the two in the garage doorway to frame them among the whimsical decorations. To my shock, both of these spots were so cute and will definitely be on my list for next year!

Stay tuned for 2023 Christmas Mini Sessions at Starlyte Christmas Tree Farm!
